End of Summer layout with Sandi Clarkson

Hello, 13 Arts friends and fans!

Sandi Clarkson here with you today sharing my most recent project for 13 Arts featuring the 13 Arts End of Summer collection. Although I am still actually knee-deep in Christmas preparations at the moment, I had an idea in mind for scrapping this sweet photo of my young granddaughter Marianne playing in the leaves. So, I'm mixing in some Fall along with the Christmas season.

Let's look at today's project, shall we?

As usual I prepared my paper with clear gesso before moving on to stenciling with the new Stencil Vintage letter, END OF SUMMER and 13 Arts modeling paste.

Then it was a matter of adding papers from the End of Summer A6 paper pad for my focal point and to serve as photo matting. I added lots of corrugated cardboard between my layers for dimensional and to enable me to tuck in my embellishments.

I adore the gorgeous rust and cream sunflowers in this End of Summer Ephemera Pack. So, I added with abandon as I wanted a very full look. Also, we now have the wonderful Art Book, vol 1 for fussy cutting even more images.

I also used some of the chipboard from the collection for further embellishing.

When my composition was nearly finished, I added both Brown Water Ink as well as Yellow Amber Water Ink (links below) to make the focal area more dominant. As an additional layer, you can see that I also used some ecru Sisal from 13 Arts.

I finished the layout with some splattering of watered down 13 Arts White Gesso.

The butterflies from the End of Summer Ephemera pack are bright and beautiful. I just had to use a few for whimsy and to brighten things up. Also, the new Badges are so fun to tuck in amongst your layers.

Winter canvas by Monika Januszewska-Rosik

Witajcie! Czy Wasze pracownie również skrzą się od brokatu? Jeśli tak, to znaczy, że świąteczne przygotowania są w toku, a do Świąt zostało naprawdę niewiele czasu. W mojej pracowni powstała zimowa inspiracja na okrągłym podobraziu z wykorzystaniem papierów, które do świątecznych nie należą. Połączyłam w sumie papiery z trzech kolekcji.

Hello! Are your craftrooms also sparkling with glitter? If so, it means that Christmas preparations are underway and there is really little time left until Christmas. In my studio, winter inspiration was created on a circular canvas with the use of papers that do not belong to Christmas collections. I combined a total of papers from three collections.

Drzwi, które są centralnym punktem mojej pracy wycięłam z kolekcji Bella i podkleiłam na tekturze. Czyż nie są niesamowite? Na drzwiach umieściłam mini wianek i kokardę z zestawu Dreamland Ephemera.

The door, which is the focal point of my work, was cut out of the Bell collection and glued onto the cardboard. Aren't they amazing? On the door I put a mini wreath and a bow from the Dreamland Ephemera set.

Ten projekt jest bardzo prosty w wykonaniu i mam nadzieję, że zainspiruje Was do stworzenia własnych zimowych dekoracji.

This design is very simple to make and I hope it will inspire you to create your own winter decorations.

Love - layout by Aida

Sometimes I make layouts for special orders and special occasions. This one is a part of wedding gift and photos with sunflowers and a happy couple were just perfect to use with "End of summer collection". Życzę wszystkiego najlepszego :)

Czasami zdarza mi się wykonać pracę na zamówienie dla kogoś znajomego, zwykle jest to jakaś specjalna okazja. Dziś chciałabym Wam pokazać pracę, którą zrobiłam jako część prezentu ślubnego. Zdjęcia ze słonecznikami idealnie pasowały do kolekcji "End of Summer".

Summer Memories layout with Sandi Clarkson

Hello, 13 Arts friends and fans,

Sandi Clarkson here with you today sharing my most recent project for 13 Arts featuring the new 13 Arts End of Summer collection. The end of Summer (with Fall on the horizon) is a favorite time of year for me. Those beautiful Indian Summer colors we have in the Northern Hemisphere are also my favorite to work with. And ha, ha, my personal clothes closet reflects that love as well.

Let's look at today's project.

This photo is from one of my horse-loving granddaughters. I thought it would looks great when paired with the End of Summer papers.

As usual I prepared my paper On the Porch paper with 13 Arts Clear Gesso and then did some random stamping with the Stamp A7, End of Summer. Next I stenciled a few areas with 13 Arts modeling paste which was pushed through the Vintage Letter Stencil. Before applying, I added both black and brown Rainbow Color to my paste for an interesting effect.

I also used some of the chipboard from the collection for further embellishing.

When my composition was nearly finished, I added both Brown Water Ink as well as Yellow Amber Water Ink (links below) to make the focal area dominate. As an additional layer, you can see that I also used some cheesecloth from my stash.

I finished the layout with some splatter of watered down 13 Arts White Gesso.

While I was creating I thought it would be fun to toss in a few embellishments from the Travel the World Ephemera pack, the mushrooms and the hiking boots. My granddaughter usually wears cowboy boots when she works with her horses but it gave the illusion of walking around outside.

The butterflies from the End of Summer Ephemera pack are bright and beautiful. I just had to use a few for whimsy and to brighten things up.

My main layer was adhered to the Daydreaming paper, End of Summer for additional stability of the overall project and for interest.

Stronger together

Cześć,

czasami są dni gdy mamy ochotę pobawić się twórczo. Tak było też i u mnie. Nic nie planując otworzyłem mój art journal, wziąłem kilka dodatków z nowej kolekcji "End of summer" i złapałem za ogniste kolory jesieni.

sometimes there are days when we want to play creatively. This was also the case with me. Without planning anything, I opened my art journal, took a few additions from the new "End of summer" collection and grabbed the fiery colors of fall.

Zacząłem, jak zwykle, od zagruntowania stron przezroczystym gesso. Na tym przykleiłem kilka paseczków papieru oraz kilka kawałków papieru ryżowego. Oczywiście jak tylko zacząłem szaleć z białym gesso i tuszami to stały się one mało widoczne, ale stworzyły ciekawą fakturę. :)

I started out as usual with priming the pages with a clear gesso. On this I glued a few strips of paper and a few pieces of rice paper. Of course, as soon as I started going crazy with white gesso and water inks, they became less visible, but created an interesting texture. :)

Zaraz po wyschnięciu tuszy dodałem kilka odbitek stemplowych. Na tak przygotowanym tle zacząłem tworzyć kompozycję. Jako, że w journal'u wolę tworzyć bardziej płasko to użyłem tylko kilku elementów z zestawu ephemer, naklejek i tekturek.

As soon as the backround was dry, I added a few stamps. Against such a background, I started to create a composition. As I prefer to create flatter in journal, I used only a few elements from the ephemeras set, stickers and chipboards.

End of Summer - Ideas

Kolekcja End of Summer inspirowana jest właśnie tym okresem - końcem lata. Jeszcze jest ciepło, ale wieczory są już chłodne. Nieco zgaszone kolory, rdzawe akcenty i słoneczniki zapowiadają już jesień. W kolekcji znajdziecie też nieco klimatów vintage. Ciekawe przejścia kolorystyczne i głębia to coś co w tej kolekcji uwielbiam. Mam nadzieję, że i Was zachwyci i będzie jedną z Waszych ulubionych.

End of Summer Collection is inspired by this time of the year, when the summer ends and Autumn is coming. It is warm during the day, but evenings are cold. A bit faded colors, rusty accents and sunflowers say Autumn is coming. Interesting transitions of colors, the depth - that is what I personally love about this collection. I hope that you will love it as well and it will be one of your favorite.
