Mixed media cards

Dear All,

Today my inspiration was made for our monthly challenge's moodboard.
The sun is shining, birds are tweeting and the air is filled with the sweet scents of flowers.
I was using sky blue with one board and the greens of a meadow on the other one. A built in many cutouts and numerous lifts as well.
Please welcome my creation and be courageous to make your own greeting cards too!

Baby girl

I hope you liked our December challenge and are working on your creations with much joy.
Let's see how I put my layout together, step-by-step.

I traced the pine tree shape on a piece of paper, then I decorated it with stencil and grey ink pad.
By using modeling paste I stenciled snow-whiffs on the whole page. First I was working with another picture....

I splattered watercolor from my palette on a foil, then I pressed this foil on the page.

I spread some splash ink everywhere to give my creation a snowy - glittery shine.

I applied some stickers and a few snowflakes and stars using heat embossing.

I used sisal to lift the photo. Now it's time to arrange some flowers, berries, pine tree and chipboard...

A bit of stamping and splattering black splash ink over the page. Here, I was using a different photo.

It wouldn't be complete without spheres and micro beads.

Now let's have a look at the finished layout:

Create without limits - mini album by Szandra

I brought you a tiny album today, which is the apple of my eye - from the "Blue Magnolia" set.
It happens quite often that we're lacking inspiration or our well of ideas is getting dry.  It happened to me as well. A big pile of photos are waiting to be worked with , while my time is becoming more and more limited because of my four children. Sometimes I feel I get lost in everyday life....
After the first round of panic, I start creating. This time, for myself and for those who would do with a bit of encouraging and impulse on those days when inspiration isn't finding its way to us and everything seems to be even more challenging.

Soon I got carried away by the freedom of creation. Many tools found their way from the self into my hands: new stamps, stencils, beloved mists and beautiful papers.

Here is the end result:

Memories ~ Nostalgic Layout with Sandi Clarkson

Hello, 13 Arts fans!

Sandi here with you today sharing a layout I created focused around an old photo of my uncle and I at my grandparents farm. I was a city girl (still am) and had great respect for all their animals.  Respect and fear, LOL. I still remember being afraid this old Bossy cow was going to trample all over me. But it made for a great photo opportunity for my mother!

Anyway, my intention was to stick with some green to represent the fields where we stood along with some blue for the sky and then lots of browns, amber and so forth to represent the cow. However, as I played around with my paints, I decided to throw in some pink to represent myself.

Here is a little collage of photos showing you the layout before I added my embellishments and photo. I firstly primed my Paper Blue Nights ~ Blue Magnolia with Clear Gesso and then covered 3/4 of the paper with a mix of White Gesso and MAGIC Powder to achieve a bit of crackle. I allowed that too dry overnight before proceeding. I did some random stamping with the Numbers Stamp  and then some stenciling with the script portion of the Dandelions Stencil and some Modeling Paste.

All my paint colors are all listed below in products used but are comprised of mostly some Rainbow powders, Ayeeda Water Ink and some Splash products.

While my paints were drying, I altered the large clock chipboard from Chipboard HIS HERS Remastered with Rainbow Color Brown and the leaves from the Chipboard Set Vintage Summer A4 with the Olive Green Ayeeda Ink. The title piece was left bare and is included in the Rose Fields Chipboard Set 12x12.

I layered my photo on torn and distressed pieces of the Paper Postcards ~ Blue Magnolia and matted my photo with BLUE MAGNOLIA A4 Butterfly collage. The little colorful scrap under the clock was my original test scrap of paper and I decided to include it for interest.

Before adhering the focal area, I added some Sisal ecru for texture and a few fussy cut florals from BLUE MAGNOLIA A4 Butterfly collage as well as some three dimensional flowers. I tucked in a paper doily and scrap of leaves from my stash. Since this was an outdoor scene, I included the bees from Metal Insects and a fussy cut butterfly also from BLUE MAGNOLIA A4 Butterfly collage.

I finished off with some paint splattering, dabs of watered down white gesso and some of the SPLASH Old Gold Glitter Ink and 13 Arts SPLASH White Ayeeda Ink.

Here you can see a little of the crackle I was trying to achieve.
This project got a little more colorful than I intended but my husband says he likes it and I hope that you will as well.

"Michelle" by Patricia Basson

Hello to all my 13arts Friends....

Hope to find you all well. Here in South Africa Autumn is arriving bringing cooler weather and beautiful Autumn colors.
Today I share a photo of my youngest Daughter Michelle with you taken on her Matric Farewell Dance.

I used two sheets of the Blue Magnolia Paper collection: Bonjour. I tore the top one and flipped it, then glued them together. I applied Clear Gesso over them. I stamped with the Together Stamp and used the 16 pan Watercolor Set to paint  the flowers with Yellow, Amber, Olive Green and Turquoise colours.
I used several pieces of papers left over from previous projects as layers behind my photo. Also fussy cut some elements from the Flowery Day sheet to add as interest. For texture I used Dried Roots and Black Natural Mica Flakes and Silver Microspheres.
I hope you enjoy these close ups...

From the 13arts on-line store you can find all the products I used and much more.

Thank you and hope you enjoyed my project...
