February projects by Lisa Griffith

Hello 13 arts friends, Lisa here to share a tag and a layout with you today.

'Fly with me'

I started with a beautiful paper called 'Christmas Eve' from the Cozy Evening collection.
From there I used a few stencils with 13 arts modeling paste to create some texture and then I added
some pink 13 arts 'splash' ink.

Here is a list of 13 arts products I used:

'Christmas Eve' Cozy Evening collection
'Little Secrets' Secret Letters collection
13 arts Clear Gesso
13 arts Modeling Paste
Stencil 'Greeting'
Stencil 'Aria Song'
13 arts Splash Ink - Pink
13 arts Splash Ink - Black
13 arts Natural Mica Flakes - Black
Glass Microspheres
Silver Microspheres
Stickers 'Fly Away'
White Iridescent Glitter

My second project is a tag I created using lots of 13 arts mediums.

'Be creative'

I started by spreading some 13 arts black gesso all over my tag,
and then covered some of it in white gesso, and then used a cool 13 arts stencil
over that in black again to add some artsy words.

I love playing with the Rainbow Duo watercolors...so fun to see how they change
color. Here I used the color 'Lilac' and a little bit of 'Yellow Amber' mist.
I cut out some butterflies and roses from the paper called 'United Forever'
from the His & Hers collection and glued them underneath my flowers.

13 arts products used:

13 arts Black gesso
13 arts Clear gesso
13 arts Gel Medium
13 arts White 'Splash' Ink
Stencil 'Butterflies'
His & Hers paper 'United Forever'
Cabochons
Silver Microspheres
White Iridescent Glitter
Rainbow Color Duo 'Lilac'
Ayeeda Ink 'Yellow Amber'

My last step once all my elements were glued down was to add some glass & silver microspheres
and a little white glitter using gel medium to add some sparkle.

Thanks for looking,
Lisa xo

Simple Pleasures with Jelissa

Hello 13@rts fans!

How are all of you today? I'm excited for so many reasons - one of them being my first collection with 13@rts has just been released (yay!). You can find them in the store very soon, after we have revealed the rest of the new releases for this season.

Of course the other reason I'm so happy is that it's my turn to share on the blog with you a creation. This time I finally found the energy for a layout and it's one of my eldest and his papa when he was just a few months old.

This was created with the Cozy Evening collection (Hot Chocolate edition) - the browns and beige are very therapeutic and soothing for some reason and I just have to use it for this sweet picture of the both of them. To add on more color in my background, I first created a soft background wash with matt paints in Peach and Caramel, followed by the darker Pearl Mist (Brown) and Chalk Mist (Dark Brown).

Some close-ups:

I kept my layering to a minimum this time, focusing on the textures I can create with modeling paste, glitter strips, microspheres and glass beads. The chipboard I altered with a mix of gel medium and distress glitter.

I altered the leaves by applying a mixture of medium and glitter strips, then sealing it with a layer of liquid medium.

After everything is almost dry, I touched up with drips of Chalk Mist (Dark Brown) and Pearl Mist (Brown), as well as splatters of Splash! acrylic ink in both Black and White.

Follow Your Dreams with Jelissa

Hello friends!

I've been quiet for awhile trying to get some much needed rest, but I'm in again today to share a card I made for 13@rts. Nowadays I'm venturing into small projects like these for practical reasons - I'm too exhausted for bigger projects like layouts, and I have tons of 12x12 lying around with lack of storage space. With cards I can bless someone and also, it's something I really suck at so, practice makes perfect right? I hope LOL

So here's a step by step showing how I made this card.

Step 1

I trimmed out two sheets of 12"x6" from one sheet of patterned paper from the Cozy Evening collection (Hot Chocolate edition). The brown side I used as my base and from the reverse side, I trimmed out a 5.5"x5.5". For the brown sheet, I folded into half and distressed the edges with gesso using my finger.

Step 2

Add modeling paste over a stencil (from Cozy Evening) and sprinkle some embossing powder over. Heat to set.

Step 3

I used Woodbine chalk mist to add color and also some Splash! acrylic ink in black for my splatters. The embossing powder added earlier gives a nice resist effect.

Step 4

I mixed some Ayeeda matte paint in black with modeling paste and used it to distress the edges of my white paper with my finger to get a nice grungy border.

Step 5

Using the same mixture, I patted it over randomly on my chipboard, followed by some modeling paste to whitewash it and give some texture. After this, just assemble the card together and this is what I got:

I splattered some Woodbine chalk mist on the flowers and misted lightly with water. Unfortunately it does look like splatters of blood (oops)... My sentiment is a sticker from the Fly Away collection and I distressed the edges with gesso as well.

Wedding Canvas with Jelissa

Good Saturday friends!
Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas holiday!
Mine was full of eating and drinking and laughter, and I think I might have over-eaten a little....

Today I'm back in on the 13@rts blog to share a wedding canvas I made for an ex-colleague who married the man of her dreams. I've used the Wedding Day Kit from the 13@rts store and it's filled with soft pastel shades of pink, grey and green.

Some close-ups:

One of the sheets from the kit was filled with lovely quotes and I used it as the sentiment of the canvas.

Underneath all the paper layers (all from kit), I used the lace that came in the embellishment pack and layered it over my background of masked acrylic modeling paste and some misting with the Pink Pastel Mist (kit) and Antique Cream Mist (own).

These gorgeous flowers, beaded stamens and pearl string are found in the kit and they add the perfect romantic touch to the canvas with the soft tulle texture and colors.

That's all I have for you today and thank you for dropping by. From our family to yours, have a Happy New Year!

My 2nd project for 13arts is a page inspired from Christmas spririt!!!

At first I created my background applying gesso on the right and on the left side of my paper. Then i added some texture with modelling paste and a stencil  i used, so that i could create tree on the pattern paper. At last I sprayed on different spots of the page using 2 mists.

I painted all the chipboards (snowflake frame & snowflake) with the same mists and i began to build my page using my favorite embellisements such as a doily, flowers, a lace...

To add some sparkle on my project i also added some gold microspheres, glitter strips and some paint glitter.

Merry Christmas!!!
