Life is a Verb ~ Layout with Sandi Clarkson

Good morning, creative friends!
Sandi here with you today sharing my most recent layout for the 13 Arts blog.

I had been feeling inspired to work with the "B" side of Paper Birds and flowers paper, In Bloom
That yellow damask-like paper is so gorgeous! I had planned to use that along with predominately teal. But as always with the creative process, I decided to add in some areas of purple along with the teal from the Watercolor set 16 pans - set of watercolors to pull out the purple in my granddaugher's shirt.

I also fussy cut some of the peach flowers from the In bloom Elements A4 sheet. So with the yellow, teal, purple and peach, I had to be very careful not to get a pastel Spring-y effect. I tried to accomplish that by using some more intense shades of the watercolors by not adding as much water.  At that point it was lovely but I wanted "rust" to ground it. So, taking the easy way, I sprinkled some of my brown Rainbow Color Brown and then spritzed it with water. Some areas are still powdery but actually since I like texture, that is more than fine by me!

As usual, I first coated my papers with Clear Gesso, then added some Gesso white - acrylic primer 500 ml around my focal area. I did some random stamping with brown ink using the Avril stamp A7. Next I created some texture by pushing Modeling Paste through the Stencil masks HIS TIME. This is when I began doing my color work. What I really like about our modeling paste is that it stays a bright white unless you have already mixed it with color.

Then I began adding layers to my photo with the paper elements below. I am proudest of my fussy cut blooms because it's not my favorite thing to do when I'm in the midst of a project. That is what is nice about our ephemera packs! However, fussy cutting is fun when you are just relaxing and maybe watching TV, movie or a video.

I finished with a few embellishments, some 3D balls, Ecru Sisal, rhinestones from my stash and then some splattering with my paint colors and Gesso white.

I hope you like it!

May your day bloom with happiness

Hello dear friends

I hope you have all been well and that you have had a wonderful Festive Season so far. For my last post for 2020, I created this card using the gorgeous In Bloom Collection.

Products used:

I started by layering both sides of the Rose wallpaper and reverse side of the  Tea Party paper.

Next I added a bit of embroidered lace and creative script chipboard from Dusty Attic.

I then cut the Rose Emphemra wreath to add a couple of roses and affixed it using double sided foam tape. Next created a cluster of flowers in matching colours.

Last but not least I finished it off using this beautiful sentiment sticker. If you don't have ant of these stunning 13@rts sticker sheets,  make sure to include them in your next purchase. They are transparent and therefore the perfect sentiment for any card or layout.

Thank you so much for visiting us today. I hope you enjoyed your time here. On the last day of 2019, I would like to wish you a wonderful new year and hope that your 2020 your  bloom with happiness, love and sunshine.

Till next time have fun and take care.

~~Timeless beauty~~
By Patricia Basson

Hello Dear friends...
Today's page from  me was done using the beautiful papers from the In Bloom collection. I used the Green Diamond sheet as my background and for layering as well. I punched a border on the Rose Wallpaper. My color on this work comes from two Color Glows, Amber and Ruby. Firstly I used it with water to color the Doily's and the piece of Gauze. I also mixed it with Modelling paste and used it through a stencil on the background.

I used several flowers from the In Bloom Ephemera pack as well as some of the sentiments. Because the white is to much of a contrast with the papers, I lightly inked then with some antique Linen Distress Ink. Now they blend in much better with the overall design!
I colored the Glass Beads with a few drops of  Lemonade and Valencia Alcohol Inks. The Glass Beads and the Mica Flakes were then adhered using Gel Medium.

I used the following products from the 13arts on-line shop.

Watercolors meet Summer Rhapsody ~ Canvas Fun with Sandi

Hello,  everyone!

I am up on the 13 Arts Blog today sharing a canvas featuring our new Summer Rhapsody collection along with our Watercolor Set of colors.

What a great combo!

I've been itching to share some work with our fabulous Watercolor set of 16 pans because they can provide such intensity of color. I went a step further and chose some colors outside my comfort zone. While so many like pink and purple, I am more of a peach, coral with aqua kind of gal.

For fun, I chose to scrap this publicity photo of Lucille Ball that is just relaxed and funny.

I prepared my background with some Modeling paste and MAGIC Powder to thicken it and achieve a more crackled look. Then I started with my Watercolors and created an ombre wash using the watercolors and lots of water. Colors used were Pink, Magenta, Violet and Indigo.

For my photo layers I've torn pieces from the Summer Rhapsody collection: Pink Thoughts Serendade and Music is Everywhere. I've also tucked on some embellishments from the Summer Rhapsody Ephemera pack as well as the In Bloom Ephemera Pack.

Prior to adhering the focal area, I randomly stamped my canvas background with black ink and the Magic Door Stamp. It looks great when hand stamped or when using a block. It's certain to become a fave!

I rounded out my piece with some splattering of 13 Arts SPLASH White Ayeeda Ink and White Gesso. For further dimension I added some Violet Hologram Glitter as well as some colored moss and a hat pin from my stash.

This was so fun create!
Watercolors are amazing to work with as you can achieve even the lightest of intensities if you wish!

Thanks for coming by the blog today!

This is real life

Hello dear 13arts friends

I hope you are well and maybe you are also looking forward to this weekend.

I'm back with you today sharing this layout I created with the beautiful Grungy Walls Collection and gorgeous new Emphemra pieces.

13@rts Products used

I started by stencilling background words using Vintage paint and one of my old time favorite 13@rts stencils.

Next I fussy cut the wreath of roses and butterfly from the A4 In Bloom Elements Papers and layered it with burlap and lace.

I added more roses from the In Bloom Emphemra pack, as well as a couple of cute little butterflies from the Grungy Walls Emphemra pack.

Last but not least I added a few stickers to finish it off.

Thank you so much for visiting us today, I hope you enjoyed your time here and will be visiting us again in the near future.

Till next time, enjoy your weekend and have fun creating.

All my love
