I have rotated the sketch. I chose papers from both Faces of Spring and All Is love.
I used a combination of flowers from Prima and 13 Arts, many of them were colored with 13 Arts Paints and Mists. The background was created with the new Ayeeda  Water Paints, along with the Chalk Mists and two different stamps.

September 2013 Guest Designer -Sandi Smith - Canada

Witajcie! Dzisiaj na naszym blogu wspaniały gość, niezwykle ciepła i utalentowana osoba - Sandi Smith z Kanady. Zapraszam do poznania jej nieco bliżej i obejrzenia niezwykłych prac, które dla nas przygotowała.

Hello, today we are happy to have here our September Guest Designer - Sandi Smith. Please meet her a bit closer and look at her outstanding, beautiful projects!

>>><<<

Hi everyone...I just want to start off by saying how honored I am to be Guest Designing for 13 arts this month. It has been such a pleasure working with Ayeeda's awesome products.

Here's a few things about me....

My name is Sandi Smith and I live in beautiful Newfoundland, Canada with my wonderful husband and 2 great kids.I did my first layout in January 2010 and was immediately hooked! I am obsessed with all things associated with scrapping and I am always in "scrapbook mode", constantly looking at things in our everyday lives for sources of inspiration. I love to tear, wrinkle, sew and to get messy with gesso, mists and paint. Some of my other obsessions...oops...I meant hobbies are refinishing antique furniture and my latest love is painting girls on mixed media backgrounds. I don`t have a definite style...my creations can be vintage, shabby chic or loaded with paints, sprays and gesso... depends on my mood and what inspires me at that time.

>>><<<

Love Is All You Need

First off let me tell you that this layout looks NOTHING like what I originally set out to do!!!

I used the gorgeous Faces of Spring Collections and let me tell you that these papers certainly stand up to the layers and layers of mixed media products that I could not stop adding.

This is hubby and me on our wedding day and I wanted this layout to have the feel of Fall. I applied Ayeeda molding paste with the brick wall stencil and then tried to recreate the look of brick with texture paste, inks and micro beads(applied using gel medium). I also did some random stamping.

I added 13 arts Water inks in brown and olive green to water in a mister. I loved doing this because it allowed me to control how saturated the color of the mist would be.

Here's a close up of some of the beautiful flowers and twigs that are available in the 13 Arts store and the leaves were cut from the coordinating papers in the Faces of Spring collection. I just love the color of those rosebuds!!

I have to say that I LOVE the look of the twigs tucked in amongst the flower clusters...so pretty!!

Ok...onto my next layout.

You Are Amazing

I used the beautiful All is love Collection for this layout of my sweet girl...it was a perfect match for her face painting! I once again applied gesso and molding paste to the layered background paper and went for a blast of color using the turquoise mist and pink paint. I also colored some 13 arts white flowers with the turquoise mist to match my layout..such beautiful intense color!!!

Here are a few closeups...

My Heart Belongs To You

My last project is a card made from the All is Love Collection. I cut the banner and sentiment from the "Love Letters" papers and made the rolled roses from some scraps I had left. I used the mist in Fushia for a burst of bright pink. Once again, the twigs added just the perfect touch!!!

Well that's it for me and I hope you enjoyed my projects because I definitely enjoyed making them!!!

Thanks so much Ayeeda for having me!!

Thank You Sandi, it was a huge pleasure to have you here:) You did amazing job with our products, thank You so much!!!

How to dye flowers with Ayeeda Water Inks - Tutorial

Chyba wszyscy lubimy kwiatki, prawda?
Rzeczy niezbędne to:
  • kwiatki, które będziemy farbować (u mnie wycięte z papieru czerpanego),
  • ulubione kolory tuszy wodnych;
  • woda;
  • pędzelki;
  • dla niecierpliwych - nagrzewnica :)
I suppose, we all love flowers, don't we?  I'd like to show you how to dye flowers using Ayeeda water inks, to make them unique.
That's necessary:
  • flowers (I'm using some kind of mulberry paper)
  • favourite Ayeeda water inks;
  • water;
  • brushes;
  • if you're impatient - a heat tool :)

The first step is to spray flowers with water - they must be really wet!

Mokrym kwiatkom nadajemy dowolny kształt.
The wet flowers you can form in any way you like.

Następnie przygotowujemy sobie z boku kroplę wybranego tuszu - możemy zmieszać ją z wodą dla uzyskania delikatniejszego koloru).
Then we prepare a drop  of favourite water ink - we can blend it with water to make the colour softer.

Moczymy pędzelek i upuszczamy kolorową kroplę na sam środek mokrego kwiatka.
We dip the brush in the ink and let the drop fall in the middle of the flower.

Zobaczcie jak pięknie kolor się rozchodzi!
Look, how lovely the colour spreads!

If the flower is really wet, the colour will spread more and the effect will be more interesting.

Teraz pora na suszenie - cały proces można przyspieszyć nagrzewnicą :)
Then, it's time for drying - you make it quickly using a heat tool :)

Wystarczy zanurzyć jakiekolwiek  w farbce wodnej i problem rozwiązany!
I'll show you also a little trick how to make a center for the flower. Don't you have any stamens coordinating with petals? You could just dip stamens into the Ayeeda water paint and the problem is solved!

Albo środek wypełnić szklanymi mikrokulkami :)
Or you can fill the center of the flower with glass filler :)

I tak prezentują się gotowe kwiatuszki :)
And these are the flowers ready  :)

Mam nadzieję, że kursik okazał się przydatny. Jeżeli będziecie z niego korzystać, to będzie mi miło, jeżeli go podlinkujecie przy swoich pracach :)
I hope, that the tutorial will be necessary for you. Please, mention in your blog and link back to this post, if you will  use this tutorial :)

wakacje marzeń!

Hej kochani!
Dziś mam dla Was wakacyjny layout z moją córcią pływającą z koniem w roli głównej.
Wykorzystałam też papiery 13@rts z kolekcji "All is love" oraz "Faces of Spring".

Pozdrawiam cieplutko!

Bold & Bright- By Keren Tamir

Its Keren again for the 13 Arts blog and I'm here to show you my layouts for this month showcasing bright and bold colors. All Mixed Media products used to create my work are available at the 13 Arts shop here.

Here is my first layout for this reveal.

"Cutie Pie"

To start off, I masked the purple Matte Berry Paint with a circle stencil up and down the page. Then I sprayed Chalk Fuchsia mist around the white card stock.

Then I dripped some Violet water ink on my mat and using the lid created small circles around the page.  I also used some Prima black coal fluid chalk ink to mask some larger circles around the LO.

Finally I used some papers from the "All is Love" collection across the page and cut a large butterfly with them. I used 13 Arts and Prima flowers to decorate around the page and some 13 Arts pink stems.

13 Arts Materials
Violet Water ink
Chalk Fuchsia Mist
Matte Berry Paint
All is Love: Pink Paradise

"Smile, be happy"

This is my second layout for this month's reveal. It is also bold and bright like the other one but just with a different colour scheme.

I built my background on top of the "Spring Morning" paper from the 13 Arts "Faces of Spring" collection. However, after applying all the mediums, you can only see a glimpse of the original paper underneath. I do have to say that the 13 Arts papers are of amazing quality. They hold up so much wet mixed media without ripping.

To start off, I created a stone like pattern in the background by masking it with 13 Arts Modeling paste. Then I spread (generously) 13 Arts Glass filler microbeads all over the wet medium.

 I started spraying the page with three different chalk mists from 13 Arts: Yellow Lemon, Celadon and Sap Green. I let the ink drip down the page by spraying it with water to dilute the consistency. I also used some "almost dry" 13 Arts Primer from the edges of the jar. As we always have some hardened paste around the edges of the jar, I didn't want them to go to waste. Using a palette knife, I smeared them randomly on the page, creating a rough surface in my background.

I used Ranger black Archival ink and stamped a couple of different images on the page. Then I embellished the page with 13 Arts flowers and stems. I also used Prima flowers and wooden icons, yellow seam binding, and black pearls. The Chipboard pieces are from 2 Crafty.

Finally, to highlight the background and to bring some depth into the layout I used some 13 Arts Pearl Black mist. I sprayed it on my mat and then, using a brush, painted underneath the embellishments.

13 Arts Materials:
Faces of Spring papers
Primer
Modeling Paste
Glass Filler microbeads
Chalk Ayeeda Mist: Yellow Lemon, Celadon and Sap green
Pearl black mist
White flowers
White stems

Other Materials
Prima flowers and wooden icons
2 Crafty Chipboard
Prima Mask
yellow seam binding
Ranger black archival ink
Prima stamps
Prima alpha
cheese cloth
Queen & Co black pearls
