A quick Card and Tutorial with Jacqueline Moore

Hi everyone!!! I hope you are all well!!! Today I have a quick card I would like to share with you which I made for my Son's Kindergarten Teachers birthday. I have used lots of beautiful 13 Arts products in warm brown tones with a touch of white, grey and black.
I have also put together a super quick, detailed and easy to follow step-by-step tutorial for you!!!

'Happy Birthday'

Some details:

Here is the tutorial:

Step 1 and 2: Cut a sheet of 13 arts paper to fit all the way around your card then score the middle and fold, then attach it securely to your card. Normally I will only cut the paper to fit the front of the card, but I liked the idea of having the slight patterned paper on the back as well.
Use your palette knife (or an old credit card) to scrape some gesso randomly on the front of the card.

Step 3 and 4: When the gesso is dry place your stencil on the front of the card and spread Gel Medium through. Dry with a heat gun. The heat will cause the Gel medium to bubble and crack a little, but it adds nice texture. When it is completely dry you can begin to add color. I have used the following mists: Chalk Dark Brown, Chalk Yellow Amber, Pastel White and Pastel Antique Cream, mixing them together on my craft mat to create different shades, tones and tints of brown.
I have simply used a paint brush and splattered it onto the card then sprayed a little water to spread the mists. I have dried it and repeated this step until I was happy with the gradients and distribution of the color.

Step 5 and 6: Cut a strip of paper to fit across the card, and a banner shape. Distress the edges of both. Attach the strip to the top of the card leaving a small gap at the top edge, then tear a square piece of calico and use your fingers to distress and fray the edges, using glue to secure it to the strip at the top of the card. Add your banner on top using a layer of foam tape. Wrap some waxed cord around your fingers a few times to make a little circle frame a glue it onto your card along with some sparkly gold thread.
Use your paint brush and some water to splatter any of the left over mix of mist onto your paper and calico, then dip your brush into some black SPLASH! ink and splatter this as well.

Steps 7 and 8: Add a straw to the right of the card, tucking it beneath the banner, then layer some flowers above your twine circle, adding in a small chipboard frame painted white with gesso (paint it with your finger for a bumpy texture!!). Cut a small strip of paper, cutting a banner into each end, and using a Gold Gel Pen write 'Happy Birthday' onto it. Secure it to your card to the lower right of the flower cluster using foam tape, then add another flower just below. Add a few gems to the background.
Next brush some Pearl Gold Paint around the edge of the card then doodle a border with your Gold Pen, also draw some circles around your gems. Brush the edges of your flowers with gesso and splatter Pearl Gold mist over everything.

To finish your card add some Gel Medium randomly to your flowers and papers and sprinkle Colored Grit and mica Flakes. I have also added a distressed paper triangle to the bottom of the card.

I hope you enjoyed today's post!!!
