Mixed media notebook cover - tutorial by Dorota Dołęga

Hello 13arts fans :) Today I'd like to show you how I've made this little notebook. You'll need two cardboard covers, some paper, gesso, your favourite mists, gel medium and a piece of tulle:

I've started by sticking some paper to my covers and applying a layer of gesso:

Now it's time for colour! Spray the mists onto your cover and let the colours blend - I've used four shades of blue mists:

Wait until it's dry (or use a heat gun to speed it up) and apply a layer of gel medium through a piece of tulle with a rubber brush or an old plastic card:

And now all you have to do is wait patiently until gel medium dries:

Bind your notebook and decorate your cover any way you like! The 'snake skin' effect is really eye-catching, so I've kept it simple:

Materials used:

Gesso

Ayeeda mists: Pearl turquoise light, Pearl sky blue, Pearl navy blue, Chalk indigo

Gel medium
