Joy with Jelissa

Hello friends! How are you this Wednesday?

I'm up on the blog today to share a layout I made of my eldest. Things have been really busy with the baby at home. It lso brings back a lot of tender memories of the older boys' babyhood, and I'm really glad I started scrapbooking early enough to record those moments.

Here's a recent photo of my eldest enjoying the big grass meadow on a vineyard we visited. I used the "Hallerbos" paper from my Mental Vacation collection for the nature theme it had and I wanted my background to reflect his love for nature too. Lots of watercolor effect here created using Chalk and Pearl mists in Violet, Berry and Lavender, and I love how well the colors complemented the paper.

Some close ups:

Texture fun with microspheres, glass beads and glitter. I also used modeling paste over a poppy stencil and traced the outline of the flowers with a Sharpie.

Another layer of masking with a 13@rts stencil, but this time I made a paste from Magic Powder and a mixture of Vivid Violet and Metallic Purple paints. I have a piece of chipboard for layering and it was colored with Berry and Lavender Matt paints.

13@rts products used:
Acrylic primer, modeling paste, Lilac chalk mist, Lavender pastel mist, Berry chalk mist, Violet pearl mist, Mental Vacation paper (Hallerbos), Stencil (Cozy Evening), Metallic Purple paint, Vivd Violet paint, Lavender Matte paint, Berry Matte paint, Magic Powder, Silver microspheres

And that's all I have for today. Thanks for dropping by!

Spring Tag with Step-by-step Tutorial - by Jacqueline Moore

Hi 13 Arts Fans!!! I hope you are all well!!!
In my part of the world Spring has finally arrived! I love this time of the year, and it inspired me to make a Spring Green Tag. I have also put together a little Step-by-step Tutorial for you!!

'Spring Tag'

I have used beautiful bright greens and a hint of blue, adding in some gold and brown tones as a reminder of how in Spring all the beautiful plants and flowers come back to life.

Just a few close-ups for you too:

 Here is the tutorial:

Steps 1 and 2: Cut a tag shape from some white card and punch a hole in it. Then cut another, just a millimeter or two smaller from some 13 arts paper. Distress the edges of both and glue them together. I have waited until I glued them together to punch the hole through the 13 Arts paper, so that I could use the one in the white card as a guide.

Steps 3 and 4: Spread some Gesso over the background. When it is dry mix some Matte Pea Paint with a decent amount of water then use a brush to flick the paint onto your tag. Continue to flick the paint up and down the tag until you are happy with it. it should look something like the photo on the left when you are done. Next add some flicks of Chalk Celadon and Sap Green Mists, and a small amount of Pastel Blue, then flick large drops of clean water on top and let the colors all pool together and marble. Let it dry.

Steps 5 and 6: Tear a small piece of calico and use your fingers to distress the edges. Attach it ti the middle of your tag with a little Gel medium, bunching it up a little as you go. Then cut a small rectangle of paper from the Starlight Collection, distress the edges and layer on top of the calico using foam tape. I have positioned it so that it hangs over the edge of my tag. Apply a tick line of gel medium above and below the piece of paper on your background and add some D2 Microspheres.

Steps 7 and 8: Color the Microspheres with Chalk Mist in Sap Green, then add a few flicks from the nozzle over the paper and calico. Next begin adding your embellishments. I have started with a Metal Frame and Resin Curls from Scrapberry's, available in the 13 Arts Store, some natural twine tied into a bow a few times, a couple of Prima flowers and some 13 arts Sprigs of Mint (I love these!!).

Step 9: Brush some Gesso onto the flowers then adding some splats of Mist in the same colors you used on the background. Tuck a few leaves beneath your flowers, and add some Turquoise thread to your twine bow.
Finish off your tag by adding some gold Microspheres to your flowers and some Light Gold mica flakes beneath your clusters. Add some more twine through the punched hole and your tag is finished.

It really is super quick to make, lots of fun, and looks great too!!!

I hope you have enjoyed my post today!!

Tatyana Sidorenko

"Hello, my name is Tatiana & I live in Belarus. I'm wife to a wonderful & supportive man & we have 2 beautiful children, a 13 year old girl & a boy of 9 years. I've always loved doing things with my hands like sewing, crafting & gardening. I get my inspiration from everything & everyone but primarily from my children & friends. I love to create different kinds of projects, like layouts, mixed media scrapbooking & albums. My work is both mixed media & freestyle. You can find lots of layers & different embellishments on my projects. I love to learn different techniques & experiment with them, playing with different textures. I'm glad to be a guest designer in a blog 13 Arts"

My project today is a small decorative frame. A gift for my daughter.

She is cheerful and kind, she loves to sing and dance. Let it always remains it.

"Hi! I'm Arantzazu and I live in Santurtzi (Spain) I started with the scrap over 4 years ago ... but since I discovered the mixed media two years ago has become my way of expression! I love dirty my hands and create from zero, mix colors, textures and splashes!!!"

"I have created two projects ,started both together and as I can not decide for one....here are both!"

The first is a blank sheet. I used the template to begin shaping the background, some splashes of ink and a few more details to give the feeling of wind ...

I love the colors of the plumage of birds and I think that this one matches perfectly with the background!

And the other one is a canvas

The canvas has nothing written but is entitled " always wear your invisible crown".  I think we all have one within being a princess! Hahaha

I created the background with the turquoise- it is one of my favourite colors, along with gold that combine to perfection!

Layers and layers of mixed media techniques which give depth to the canvas, and this is the result...hope you like it!

These are really beautiful projects, aren't they? We can't wait the next meeting with Tatyana and Arantzazu! :)

To naprawdę piękne prace, czyż nie? Już nie możemy się doczekać kolejnego spotkania z Tatyaną i Arantzazu! :)

Special Family Member | Terhi Koskinen

Hi all!

Terhi here today with a scrapbook layout I thought I'd never do. I do not mean that with the picture of my dear dog, our tiniest family member, I mean the color scheme.
All the pages I've done so far of our dog has been with a black & white photo, for obvious reason. I love our dog's fur, it's brown with a tiny red tone and it shines as gold against the sun. But earthy colors on scrapbook pages such as brown or light orange are not for me, but as September Scrap Around the World moodboard was filled with brown's, I took the challenge to proof myself wrong.
I'm quite sure in a couple of years I'm very pleased to see a picture of our dog in colors.
Capturing memories the way they are, that's the thing I love.

So, I took some gel medium to cover the white card board, to make it waterproof. Then I flicked some browns, yellows and orange mists and water to create the background.

Papers are mainly from Starlight collection, but you'll find some scraps from Cosy Evening, too.

Stickers got a whole new look when did some random doodles around them, and there was no need for bigger title then,

I kept on the doodling idea, and highlighted the pearls as well.

Hope you liked it as much I enjoyed creating this page!
Thank you for stopping by here today.

Terhi xx

Agnieszka Bellaidea and her blue page

Witam serdecznie!
Agnieszka Bellaidea z nowym projektem.
Mam na dzis kolejna turkusowa prace i mam nadzieje ze spodoba sie Wam krociutki tutek :)

Hi!
It's Agnieszka Bellaida today with a new project and mini tutorial.

Jak zwykle zaczelam od pomalowania tekturek gesso.
I stared from painting my chipboards with white gesso.

Motylka pomalowalam bardzo grubo i wysuszylam szybko aby uzyskac efekt spekania.

Butterfly was painted with a tick layer of gesso to archive crackle effect.

Nastepnie pomalowalam go delikatnie turkusowa mgielka.

I use light mist after butterfly was dry.

Zegar zostal pomalowany w ciemniejszym kolorze i z dodatkiem srebra.

I used darker shade of blue on my clock with a touch of silver.

Niebieska galazka zostala jeszcze posypana wypelniaczem po dokladnym pomalowaniu jej zelem.

I used plastic filler on my Blue twig after painting it with gel.

Tak wygladala po wyschnieciu.

This is the final look
