Beauty

Good morning, friends!
It's Melenia Agapides here today!
I would like to share with you my Guest Designer's page for Sketchabilities! It's based on the #133 sketch, that the 13 Arts DT was given as a Guest DT!

So my page is about the beauty that lies in the smallest things, like a dandellion!
I would say that colourwise, it is a quite busy layout and a strong one.

Lots of ink in this page!
I used it to colour my chippies, to create a background
and to embellish the areas of my paper that are empty.
Isn't it an amazingly versatile tool?

I have actually used whatever 13 Arts purple/violet/lilac fluid I had in my stash!!
White Splash ink was poured on my paper in huge doses, as well!
I needed white colour to break this purple storm and to produce some contrast!

I like glitter a lot, as you probably know,
so some gold glitter was sprinkled over my embellishments,
to add sparkle and glow.

I painted my chipboard title with gesso, as you see here!
13 Arts gesso is excellent for many jobs!  It has never failed me!
Here it was used as a paint.

Follow Your Dreams with Jelissa

Hello friends!

I've been quiet for awhile trying to get some much needed rest, but I'm in again today to share a card I made for 13@rts. Nowadays I'm venturing into small projects like these for practical reasons - I'm too exhausted for bigger projects like layouts, and I have tons of 12x12 lying around with lack of storage space. With cards I can bless someone and also, it's something I really suck at so, practice makes perfect right? I hope LOL

So here's a step by step showing how I made this card.

Step 1

I trimmed out two sheets of 12"x6" from one sheet of patterned paper from the Cozy Evening collection (Hot Chocolate edition). The brown side I used as my base and from the reverse side, I trimmed out a 5.5"x5.5". For the brown sheet, I folded into half and distressed the edges with gesso using my finger.

Step 2

Add modeling paste over a stencil (from Cozy Evening) and sprinkle some embossing powder over. Heat to set.

Step 3

I used Woodbine chalk mist to add color and also some Splash! acrylic ink in black for my splatters. The embossing powder added earlier gives a nice resist effect.

Step 4

I mixed some Ayeeda matte paint in black with modeling paste and used it to distress the edges of my white paper with my finger to get a nice grungy border.

Step 5

Using the same mixture, I patted it over randomly on my chipboard, followed by some modeling paste to whitewash it and give some texture. After this, just assemble the card together and this is what I got:

I splattered some Woodbine chalk mist on the flowers and misted lightly with water. Unfortunately it does look like splatters of blood (oops)... My sentiment is a sticker from the Fly Away collection and I distressed the edges with gesso as well.

Winter LO by Olga Heldwein

Hello

Today I would like to talk more about my work for 13arts' reveal on sketchabilities blog.
It's a work with a winter photo and I wanted to add a litttle bit of winter feeling to a background as well. I used Mettallic! paints to achive this look, but I use them with lots of water like aquarrels.

If you want to play with this technique a little bit, just prepare your surface with gel medium. Then add water on the top to make surface wet. Next step is adding paints- they are quite thick but if you add them to wet surface and add water on the top, color will run and be like watercolor :)

Jeśli chcecie się pobawić trochę tą technika musicie najpierw zabezpieczyć powierzchnię za pomocą gel medium. Następnie trzeba zmoczyć powierzchnię woda, dodać farbkę i znów wodę. Farbka jest raczej gęsta, ale po dodaniu wody popłynie i będzie się zachowywała jak akwarela :)

You Are Loved - A card Tutorial By Jacqueline Moore

Hi 13 Arts fans!!! I hope you all enjoyed your weekend and are having a great start to the week!!! Today I would like to share with you I made for my Mom's birthday. It's a lot simpler than anything I normally make, and a little out of my comfort zone, but I love how it turned out!! I have also put together a little tutorial for you!!

'You Are Loved'

 A few close-ups:

Here is the Tutorial for you:

Step 1: Cut a square from a piece of 13 Arts paper to fit the front of your card. I have chosen to use 'Daydreamer' from The Fly Away Collection. Spread gesso over your page quite thickly using a palette knife, and fiddle with it to get some interesting texture. Let it dry.

Step 2: Select a combination of your favorite 13 Arts Mists and Water-based Inks in coordinating colors. Start roughly off center, dip a small paintbrush into one of the colors and paint a circle onto your background. Then choose another color and paint a second circle. Continue this, swapping colors until you are happy.
You don't need much color for each circle, in fact each one should be almost dry, though not completely before you start the next circle. If it is too wet your colors just go muddy. The few slightly wet spots will react and blend with the new layer creating a gorgeous watercolor effect.

Step 3: Add some splatters of color over your painted circles then tilt the page slightly letting the colors run a little, then leave to dry naturally, using a heat gun can cause the colors to mix completely with each other, taking away that beautiful mottled effect.

Step 4: Once your background is completely dry add a little stamping, then frame your painted area with a circle of twine. Add some sparkly thread and Washi Tape.

Step 5: Use your finger to paint a chipboard frame with gesso, then glue it, along with some flowers to your background , also add some gems randomly around the page. Next cut 2 small banners using the same paper from the background, and a black piece from the Color Basic Collection. Glue them together on an angle, and add some word stickers for your title. Attach it firmly above the flower.

Step 6: Paint around some of the flowers with the Bordeaux Water-based Ink to create a slight shadow, then paint the part of the chipboard frame with the Chalk Woodbine Mist and lightly brush it along the bottom of the title. Add more flickers and drops of both over the embellishments and background.

Step 7: Finish of by distressing the edges of your 13 Arts paper, then spray a tiny bit of mist onto a baby wipe or wet paper towel, and use it to wipe around the edges of the card.
Now all you need to do is attach it firmly to the front of your card, write in it, and it is ready to go!!!

I wish you a wonderful week of creating, and thank you for dropping by!!!

Our New Guest Designer- Rikki Graziani and her first project

Hello 13arts Fans!
Another talented Lady joined our GD Group. Let us introduce you to Rikki Graziani! Rikki made a project for our challenge so you probably have already seen her beautiful artwork. Today she created a layout for us! But first some details about Rikki:

Witajcie drodzy Fani 13arts!

Kolejna utalentowana Projektantka dołączyła do naszej grupy Gościnnych Projektantów.

***

Hi, my name is Rikki, I am very lucky to be a SAHM ( Tristan 12, Ethan nearly 10 and Amelia  4), we live in Mandurah just South of Perth with my scrap widow Scott. I have been scrapping since I was 16 yrs old, so needless to say it’s been awhile……  but I really got into it when my first son was born.

I love scrapping in all different styles I think that’s what I love about this ‘’hobby’’ you are never bored and you will always have something else to learn. My style is an ever changing one, I am naturally arty, I like to try a number of different styles and techniques. This is what I really love about this industry the ‘art’’ of it, I love creating individual pieces for different design teams allowing my photo albums to show a rich and varied amount of work, thus when I am no longer here my personality and mark will be left in the world, one layout at a time.
I am beyond excited that I was asked to join the 13@rts  guest design team, I cant wait to share with you!

***
And now it's time for her first post: :)
A teraz czas na jej pierwszego posta: :)

***

Good Morning, an exciting day here today let me tell you, its my first official post for 13@rts as a guest designer!!!!

Needless to say the wait was well worth it, I just love, love, love the products, and I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to share with you over the next couple of months.....

I started with the 13@rts Cosy Evening- ''Family Afternoon'' Hot Chocolate edition pattern paper, I really wanted some thing neutral to be my base, it has a beautiful soft snowflake pattern.

To create the background colour I used 3 different 13@rts Ayeeda inks, they are water based and they are can either give you a soft colour effect or something a little more intense depending on how much water and ink you use.

For the layers I used the 13@rts ''Frosty Days'' Hot Chocolate edition paper, and just distressed the edge, so I could layer it with the 13@rts ''Winter Frame'' which I decided to break up to create smaller clusters of snow flakes.

I wanted to add more white  back over the colours of the background so I used the 13@rts Ayeeda Gesso- Acyrlic Primer, I just watered some down to allow me to flick it with the paint brush.

13@rts Ayeeda inks - Sky Blue, Scarlet, and Violet.

Your Creative Wings Chipboard

Till next day have a creative day.
